Merovci: Rugova himself was the myth, the most difficult and happy moments with him

Adnan Merovci has been the closest associate of the late former president Ibrahim Rugova. He has stood by the first president of Kosovo in difficult and happy times. In a confession to KosovoPress, Merovci brings stories from their joint journey. Today it is 14 years since Rugova closed his eyes for the last time. [...]
Today it is 14 years since Rugova closed his eyes for the last time. January 2006 was quite cold, but it did not prevent Kosovo's many citizens from doing their last honours for the LDK founder who passed away on January 21st.
Former protocol chief Adnan Merovci holds irreplaceable memories with the late President Ibrahim Rugova. For him, Rugova continues to be a picture of prophetic radiation that, with his ideas, saved the Balkans and not just the Albanian people.
In his interview with KosovoPress, Merovci says Ibrahim Rugova is a person who needs to be broken up in many dimensions and that it was the myth that had a prophetic radiation.
My feelings for Rugova are growing personally. I'm facing a moment that's personal, but I still want this case to show up and it's the issue of breaking down his image, his human traits, as a creator who was and then went on to politics and to a leader in Kosovo's politics as a human, as a family, as a friend and as a friend. Definitely Ibrahim Rugova is becoming a person or a personality very much in need of displacement in general. Speaking of Rugova some are thinking it's being mythed, but actually Rugova, if I say it's myth, it's been the myth itself, it's had prophetic radiation, even though it hasn't been prophet”, he says.
Covered by many memories he had spent for more than a decade with President Rugova, Merovci shared one of the happiest moments they had shared and was the beginning of NATO bombings on Serbian targets.
While speaking with great homesickness about Ibrahim Rugova, the person who was closest to him during his lifetime, Adnan Merovci says the late president has always believed Kosovo's independence will happen, which we are enjoying.
The most excited and happy moment in which I have seen Ibrahim Rugova is the moment of the first bomb crash on March 24, 1999, sometime around 8:00 p.m. I was in my apartment in Velani when I got back from him and after the bomb came down I took the liberty and went to him. When I got inside, he was surprised at how I got here because he was aware of the situation and the situation of the road he was like and I found that this man with all the authority who arrived, but he was also a simple man, and I saw his joy and excitement. Maybe it's not too much to say even if a clean kid who enjoys”, Merovci said.
There was also much hardship and unfortunate news on their journey. Merovci for Kosova Prees shared one of the most painful moments of former president Ibrahim Rugova.
According to him, the May 6th 1999, when Serbian forces executed Professor Fehmi Agani was the most difficult moment, especially after he was commissioned to communicate the news to Rugova.
Duek recalls that moment, Merovci says the former president's first reaction was “cúd to break my arm” to show the importance Agan had in Rugova's life.
The saddest moment I am explaining is the case on May 6, 1999, when we had only traveled from that kidnapping when Serbs had executed Professor Fehmi Agan and Italians who had understood this information could not communicate Rugova and charged me with telling him. On that occasion he was waiting on a plane to visit Rome. I tell the mayor, but I want to say something... He expected something unpleasant from the way he reacted. I said you told us that in the biggest mess a man shouldn't lose his head because he needs to keep working. Are you talking to what happened? Much more nervous, I said, Professor Agan has passed away and Serbs have killed him. Even when I confess, I am extremely moved. He had a facer and as never before because he had even more painful death. He told me he broke my arm, that's the authentic word I expect to identify Rugova”, he told Kosovas.
Merovci refers to Rugova as a wise man but not as gentle in the face of demands and his idea of freedom.
For him, Ibrahim Rugova has broken out the orbits of being a writer, intellectual and president until he appreciates him as a national scholar of international proportions who by his work saved the Balkans and not just the Albanian people.
<x0brahim Rugova has broken out the orbits of being a writer, an intellectual, a president, a politician. Ibrahim Rugova is a personality that the minimum preference that belongs to Ibrahim Rugova was a national scholar of international size and given a fact of his worth that we are enjoying today and not just Albanians... as if it had not been his idea the entire Balkans had been lit up and the human being was endangered. As such, Ibrahim Rugova has a huge grudge and has obligations and debts to him and other Balkan countries, Merovci said.
While historic President Ibrahim Rugova considers it irreplaceable, he says Rugova carried out his mission, but remains to work even further.
“There is no replacement, definitely Ibrahim Rugova is a unique example, but I think Ibrahim Rugova has carried out his mission, we behind him have to work... I think we load him if we asked for more from Rugova, he carried out his mission. He's been taken by the one who's forgiven he's believed in every second of his life”, Merovci concluded.
Former Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova was born on 2 December 1944 in Cercrece in Istog. On December 23, 1989, he was elected chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, the first political party in Kosovo to directly challenge the communist regime in the former Yugoslavia.
On the 14th anniversary of his death, near Rugova's grave, the work of the former president by the country's leaders, co-party, other collaborators and ambassadors of other accredited countries in Kosovo was established today.
