Customs explains that if someone decides to buy a 29.500-euro car with CO2 emissions of 140 grams, they would pay 443 euros more tax, as opposed to the old law.
According to them, this means that there will be no advantage for luxury cars but only those that are ecological. But if you buy a vehicle over 31,000 euros, math for lower expenses is correct.
“Dates emerging in the media these days, presenting a certain situation that expensive vehicles will become cheaper are only the result of misparate data in the old law. The example given in the media these days by a 31,000-euro vehicle that pollutes 140 grams, mathematically is accurate and gives 300 euros negative, respectively, the lowest tax, could be compared to 29.500 euros with 140 grams of diesel that would differentiate plus 443 euros that must be paid”, said Anastas Mezkovski, assistant director in Dogana.
The difference between the new and the old law is the tax on the value of the car.
If there was previously more than 3,000 euros worth of vehicle tax, tax will now be paid at this rate only for vehicles more expensive than 10,000 euros.
All vehicles will compete up to 10,000 euros, which is more ecological, what is more ecological will pay the much lower tax, and what pollutes the most will pay the tax several times higher. The purpose of the law is to stimulate people to think, instead of paying higher taxes for more polluting vehicles, that money is used for more ecological vehicles”, Mezekovski followed.
The vehicle tax began to be implemented on January 1st of this year. But after just 13 days, he faced criticism from economic experts.
Former Finance Minister Tevdovski's former adviser, Branimir Jovanovic, called the move a direct takeover by the poor and giving of the rich.
The Finance Ministry replied that the measure is an incentive for citizens to buy ecological cars and eventually change the old driving park. /Alsat/
