Kobe Bryant lost his life last night at 41, along with his 13-year-old daughter.
The helicopter had flown through the great mist before falling into California, and none of the nine people in it have survived.
The private helicopter of the former NBA star, Sikorsky S-76, was immediately engulfed by fire but just collapsed on the ground.
Flight data showed that the helicopter had been in trouble flying over the Los Angeles Zoo while staying at a low altitude, while conditions had deteriorated dramatically until the crash.
Los Angeles Police spokesman Josh Rubenstein has confirmed that weather conditions did not meet minimum standards to fly.
