Some 7 billion male birds are not wanted for food or eggs killed worldwide each year, usually in machinery or even gas.
The government said new methods made it possible to test sex from the egg embryo, that is, before they were born.
But some animal rights activists said the reforms do not go far enough, the BBC writes, translates Periscopi.

Researchers have been working on this case for years.
