“An investigation has been launched on the reasonable suspicion of fraud”, the Frankfurt Lawyer's Office said in a statement.
The raids were carried out at a total of ten locations in several federal states. As further reported, the raids focused on tests of engine manipulation devices to show better than real results in gas emissions tests.
The investigation was conducted at Mitsubishi's facilities, as well as suppliers, including one of the largest German suppliers in the continental auto industry.
According to a statement by the Attorney General's Office, engines 1.6 and 2.2 litres of Euro 5 and 6.
Mitsubishi in Germany on Tuesday confirmed the media raids reports, but declined to elaborate.
As early as 2016, the Japanese company admitted that it was manipulating the engine for the purpose of displaying false results in gas testing, but at that time it was a gas engine.
Scandals surrounding oil car manipulation have plagued German car companies for years, particularly the Volkswagen Group, the Kosova Press broadcast.
