Hormonal contraceptions can result in depression and suicidal behavior.
This is the new announcement of illustrative information in the medicine box, after a review made in Europe on their security. The statement has also been made immediately by the Italian National Pharmacheutic Agency Aifa, accompanied by letters of mail for all health experts in the sector.
The severe or depressed lack of humor is the undesirable side effects observed in the use of contraceptives by girls and women who receive them to avoid unwanted pregnancies or for many other reasons, according to the doctor's recommendation.
Depression can be a serious factor, and it greatly increases the risk of giving birth to suicidal behavior. So institutions call on patients to be informed and to contact their doctor if they observe mood changes or depressive symptoms, even if they are identified after treatment begins.
This announcement, the European authorities stress, applies to all hormonal contraceptives in the market, such as pills, vaginal rings, spirals or implants that are placed under the skin.
