Why are we more concerned about our mistakes than our successes?

According to the New York Times, psychologists questioned people's negative natural attitude toward themselves and concluded that we have evolved so that negative experiences and mistakes are more important to us than successes.

“Ve-Critica influenced our mind and body,” says Richard Davidson, founder and director of the Centre for Healthy Mind at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
