The quality of the air, water, and earth in which we live are certainly an important determining factor in the quality of life we make. Unfortunately, 2020 is expected to be dark again in terms of pollution in the country. Again, for this, Macedonia and Albania are Europe's most polluted countries.
According to the Index of Pollution published by Numbeo.com, the two Balkan countries and the town-state of Monaco have scored the highest index scores. In 2020, Macedonia's Corruption Index scored 80.23 points, while in Albania 77.77 points. In the past two years, Albania's Corruption Index has marked deterioration. At the beginning of 2018, this index was estimated at 75.2 points.
To generate an actual index (which always updates) Numbeo uses data collected up to 36 months. Numbeo includes only cities for which there are at least a certain number of contributors. The index is published twice a year.
The Corruption Index is an assessment of general pollution in a certain city. The higher weight is given to air pollution than to pollution / water access, which represents the two main factors in pollution. A small weight is given to other types of pollution.
So if we look at the map generated by data collected by NUMBEO, Eastern Europe continues to be the most polluted in Europe.
In Albania's 10 most polluted countries, Bulgaria ranks with a index of 65.33 points, Ukraine with 65.08, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 62.33, Serbia with 60.2, as well as Romania with 58.2.
On the other hand, lower pollution sites are those of Western Europe. Europe's least polluted country is Finland, where according to Numbeo it has scored only 11.55 points. In second place, Iceland ranks at 16.21 points, followed by Sweden with 18.09 points.
Estonia and Norway have also scored less than 20 points in terms of pollution indicators in these countries.
List of ten less polluted countries ranks: Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia and Luxembourg.
