“Thaci shares presidential medals with Dervis Shaqes

The country's president, Hashim Thaci, handed over to the family of the renowned Rapsodit Dervis Shaqa, the Presidential Medal of Merit.

The head of state has praised the contribution of Rapsodit Dervis Shaqa.

“Dervis Shaqa has made remarkable contributions to cultivating folk songs with high patriotic values for decades”, Thaci said.

Dervis Shaqa was born in 1912 in Luqa Equip of Decani, but had fled his homeland because of Yugoslav persecution toward Albania. He died in 1985 in Rasbul, Durres.
