Smelling a lemon can make you feel thin while smelling the scent of vanilla can have the opposite effect, writes Dailymail.
In one study, those who have been sniffing lemons have reported feeling thin, while those who have sniffed vanilla have had the opposite effect.
After this experiment, scientists believe that various aromas can affect the way people see themselves. They have also said that these findings are very promising for finding new treatments for patients, which suffer from weight problems and eating disorders.
According to reports, 30 million people in the US alone suffer from these types of disorders.
“Brain perception of external appearance is constantly changed and influenced by external factors. Our research has shown how sense of smell can affect this perception”, said Giada Brianza, author of this study.
Even past studies have shown about the impact that our senses have on our emotions, beginning with the tastes that make you relax, please, or be more energetic.
These findings were presented in <x0 International Conference on Human Interaction”.
