The American president has cancelled his visit to Poland in the last few minutes of last week, citing concerns about a hurricane that could hit Florida, but the day will be spent playing golf at his club in Virginia.
The war began in the early hours of September 1, 1939, when a Nazi garrison attacked Polish soldiers in Westerlacte. The Polish government has shifted the comet from Westerrplate to Warsaw, as an assessment of the visit by the American president, who was expected to give a speech. But Trump cancelled the visit, because of Hurricane Dorian, and sent Vice President Mike Pence instead.
Shortly after Trump had cancelled his visit, Chancellor Merkel had brought news that she would attend. Yesterday came news that Trump, who was supposed to spend the day in Camp David monitoring with experts how the hurricane's progress had actually flown by helicopter to his club to play golf.
Two days after the Westerplatte attack, then British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain had made the famous statement through the video that “ky country [Britain] is now at war with Germany”.
Despite this, very little help had been given to Poland, which was conquered for just a few weeks by the Nazis and Soviet troops. /Periscope
