The film “Joker”, with protagonist actor Joachim Phoenix, won “Golden lion” at the Venice Film Festival. Last Saturday, when the movie premiered in the Italian town received an eight-minute applause.
Directed by director Todd Phillips, the film reveals the experience of poor, mentally ill clown Arthur Fleck, coming from Batman's universe and approaching the underworld. The events of the film were staged in the early '80s in Gotham City.
Robert De Niro and Zazie Beetz also play in the cinematographic work.
The critic has fully praised the protagonist actor's game, while many predict Phoenix will also be the winner of the Oscar award.
Meanwhile, the Great Jury Prize and “Silver Lion” went to the Franco-Italian co-production of director Roman Polanski, “You're welcome.
