The Internet is filled with posts and videos in social media where people claim to have proof that Google and Facebook are spying on their users.
Videos have become viral in recent months of people talking about certain products, and then ads for the same online products were shown.
Cyber security specialists in Wandra have done online experiments and have found no evidence that phones and apps are secretly tapped.
Humuters have put two phones on Samsung Android and another Apple iPhone in a “room of audio”. In half an hour they've released the cat and dog food voice. They also put two identical phones in a silent room.
Security specialists held Facebook, Instagram, Chrome, SnapChat, YouTube and Amazon applications open with full permission for each platform.
Then they looked for ads related to foods about being cats on each platform and Web pages they had visited. They also analyzed the use of batteries and the consumption of data on phones during the testing phase, translated by the BBC for Periscope.
They repeated the experiment for three days at the same time, and they noticed that there were no animal food ads.
In reality, writes BBC, advertisers have very sophisticated forms to get their users' data, even though wiretapping is not one of them. /Periscope
