Shortly before the launch of testimony, the president has been holding hands with commission members.
Albania's President Ilir Meta has launched the defense of the June 30th death, bringing a Human Rights Court ruling to the attention of Strasbourg.
The republic's “president has issued a decree on abolishing June 30th as the day of local elections has defended the right to elect Albanian citizens and has avoided an undemocratic voting process with a candidate”, Meta said.
As one of the fundamental reasons the president listed a classified information on acts of destabilisation, indirectly blaming the opposition.
“This information made it clear that certain persons would use the opposition's rally on June 8th to create unrest, including the burning of Albania's”, he said.
The president spared no criticism of Basha and Rama, who undermined his desire for dialogue.
“The prime minister's co-ordination not to discuss the possibility of delaying June 30th, and second was the DP chairman's stubbornness not to sit at a table with Mr Rama as prime minister. Both of these were unacceptable”, Meta said. /tch
