A judge and official abuse officer arrested in Skenderaj

This arrest has been conducted by the Directorate for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption after five months of development of professional investigations and application of specific measures.

Kosovo police arrest a judge and a police official suspected of “misappropriating official position or authority”,“accepting bribes” and “impact assessment”
Kosovo Police, namely the Directorate for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption (DHKEK), after five months of development of professional investigations and application of measures defined by the KKPPRKS, by regional investigators for investigating economic crimes and corruption in Pristina has provided relevant information that has reflected the abuse of judicial functions, knowingly actions that discredit the position and figure of the judge.
Evidence has been provided during the application of the measures and investigative actions based on the incriminating of two officials; a judge at the Criminal Department of the Foundation Court in Skenderaj (highest) and a police official.
Tonight, dated 26.09.2019, in the afternoon of the two suspected persons, the judge and police official have been arrested by the regional unit for investigating economic crimes and corruption in Pristina.
The police officer has immediately been suspended and, within further actions, has been notified and including the Kosovo Police Inspectorate.
The operation of the 2609.2019 operation has been carried out in co-operation and co-ordination of investigative actions with the RKS Special Prosecutor.
The two suspected persons and now the most under arrest under suspicion of criminal acts “misappropriating the official position or authority”, “taking bribes” and “impact management” have been interviewed and in consultation with the competent prosecutor the ban has been imposed for 48 hours, for further procedures.
Kosovo police re-confirm that it remains committed to fighting organised crime and corruption at all levels, so every time, and to anyone who conflicts with the procedures and laws of the Republic of Kosovo, despite the role and function of the designated individual will take rigorous acts according to legal competence.
