Chief executive Sundar Pichai says he will bring the company's total investments in the continent's internet infrastructure to 15 billion euros since 2007.
Pichai met with Finnish Prime Minister Anti Rinne on Friday in Helsinki and said the investments will support 13,000 full-time jobs in the European Union annually.
He also noted that Google is investing heavily in renewable energy -- an initiative warned before global meetings -- calling for action to protect against climate change.
Workers at Google and other major American technology companies, such as Amazon and Microsoft, planned to participate on Friday in the global climate <x0-ccretrain”.
Google's project will include building more than 1 billion euros in new energy infrastructure in the EU, among them a new open sea wind project in Belgium, five solar energy projects in Denmark and two wind energy projects in Sweden and Finland.
There are also projects in the United States and South America.
Pichai said these projects will initially be online, the carbon-free energy portfolio on Google will produce more electricity than Washington D. C, Lithuania or Uruguay use each year.
