Gashi inspects works in the renovation of Azem Galica Tower

The incumbent Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi, inspected the works being done for the restoration and consolidation of the Azem Bey Tower, in Galica, Vushtrri, which are being done under the co-ordination and monitoring of the Regional Centre for Cultural Heritage in Mitrovica.

In this case, Minister Gashi praised works that are being implemented in the project that the MKRS is funding in the framework of the Tower's revitability. He said that “the preservation of important historical monuments of the Republic of Kosovo will remain my commitment in the future as well. The Tower of Azem Galica, built at the end of the century. XIX was burned three times. It was the fortress tower and the commander's permanent stay in it, gave the people multiple hearts and bravery, with what amount of fighting morality”.

“This tower held important meetings and assemblies, historic decisions were made, so this tower became the burning torch of freedom” added Gashi.

Within the framework of the restorative and consolidation project is the marking of the walls of the tower and the courtyard, cleaning and repairing the construction of the wood, fixing the courtyard and cemetery.
