Nearly every person in Ecuador has had his personal data exposed, said a cyber security firm.

Details of more than 20 million people, including names, dates, and telephone numbers, have been kept on servers in Miami without protection, writes Independent.

The data most concerns people living in Ecuador and includes details of residents who are already dead.

It includes ID numbers, tax identification numbers, and the names of family members.

The South American country has a population of about 17 million, implying that each of its inhabitants had suffered from this.

It is said that this server has already been closed, although it is not clear whether anyone has used the data with criminal purposes.

The cyber security company stated that each citizen with the data exposed may already be in danger of various frauds. /Periscope
