Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan [Erdogan] has threatened to release Syria-bound refugees to Western countries if a security zone in Syria is in their return.
Erdogan also told his party officials that Turkey was committed to creating the area and would do it alone if there were no agreements with the US by the end of this month.
He said Turkey was aiming to restore about a million refugees to that country, writes The Guardian, translates Periscopi.
We'll be forced to open the doors. No one can force us to carry this single burden,” said Erdogan, and then added that “Turkey has not received the help it stole from the world. ”
Turkey has sheltered more than 3.6 million refugees from Syria.
Erdogan said Ankara has spent 40 billion in refugees and has criticised the West, particularly the EU, that it has not kept its promises.
Turkey fears another influx of refugees until the Syrian government advances to Idlib's last rebel bases. /Periscope
