Serbia's Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has “brought the show” at a meeting with special American representative for the Balkans Matthew Palmer and Kosovo top diplomat Behgjet Pacolli, in Bled, Slovenia.
Dacic spoke of Palmer's wife, who is Serb. When it comes to Matthew, we know each other for many years and I don't expect anything from him, but many of his wife, who descended from this region”, Dacic said, as his statement caused laughter to the audience.
A proverb says that where your wife comes from, that's where you come from, that's where Dacic spoke, as it were, from the village of the woman.
After returning to seriousness, Dacic said Palmer expects a difficult job in the region.
“There is no easy task, but Serbia will be constructive, priorities are the situation in BiH, the start of talks with Albania and Northern Macedonia, will Kosovo gain liberalisation and what is the perspective of the region”, he said.
Serbs, he added, “from time to time think that the report between Pristina and Belgrade is the top priority, but it also has other” themes.
Palmer has spent a great deal of his life and career working in the Balkans. His first task was at the US Embassy Foreign Service in Serbia. He later served in Washington and as political adviser in Belgrade, where he helped mediate the April 19th “Agreement” between Serbia and Kosovo.
