A French study has concluded that consuming sugar drinks, including 100% fruit juice, can increase the risk of cancer.
Scientists from the Sorbonne University in Paris monitored food and drink consumption among more than 21,000 adults from 2009 to 2017.
They showed in their study published Wednesday in the British Medical Journal that the <x0consum of sugar beverages was evidently linked to the risk of general cancer”.
The study team has defined sugar beverages that contain more than 5% of simple carbs, which include nonalcohol, syrup, milkshakes and energy drinks, among other things, 100% juice.
They also said that a 100 - ml - a - day sugar drink increases the risk of cancer by 18%, but if it is artificially sweetened, then there is no risk of cancer.
Of the 2,193 cancers contracted during the study, 693 were breast cancers, 291 were prostate cancers, and 166 were horbal cancers. The average age in cancer diagnosis was 58 years old.
But to ease their choices, scientists stressed that the study was <x0vgues” and that the results had taken into account sociomographic factors such as age, gender, education, and living choices as smoke participants. (Theme)
