Vetevendosje's candidate for prime minister, Albin Kurti, along with two MP candidates -- Hajrula Ceku, and Yll Rugova -- have visited the Karshi Mosque in Pristina, broadcasts Kosovo.
Kurti said the restoration of the mosque has been prolonged, which risks cultural heritage in the country.
Here we are in the mosque near the Kosovo Assembly, dating back six centuries. Whose restoration is prolonged. This is not the only problem, but also the absence of a central tourist spot in this mosque. Cultural heritage sites also exist in various parts of the world. There are no minimum conditions for visiting this mosque”, Kurti said.
Hajrlla Ceku, parliamentary candidates of the Vetevendosje Movement, said the long-term problem of this restoration lies with institutions that have not dealt with it on time.
One of the cases that best illustrate institutional treatment in cultural heritage. It is a case that even when funds are asleep, they are not given to them. The problem is not the mosque but the institutions that have not addressed this. It has been a reference point for old Pristina and visited by tourists, but because of institutional neglect, it stays and is degraded and does not serve the destinations it should have. There are many other cases in Kosovo that are not only how we have handled the inheritance all these years”, he said.
Yll Rugova, candidate for deputies in Vetevendosje Movement, said the mosque's prolonged restoration is a danger to the loss of cultural heritage.
The question of the museum such as this building that has survived so far is important that we give it a space that tourism needs to thrive. While we have a museum that's in place, but this mosque due to long-term restoration is a threat to the loss of cultural heritage. If we take the example of the Sofia Mosque in Istanbul, it would take the same example for the visit. Pristina has several layers of its period, which are presented in buildings like the palace of youth, printed the museum, and this building”, Rugova has said.
The Charshia Mosque is one of the first buildings built in Pristina, it was built in 1391.
Tourists to visit these mosques after six centuries have to pass through a board, EO writes.
The day before, Mr. Kurt meant by an answer that he believed in God's existence even though he was once thought to be an atheist.
