27 Police Officials Arrested by IPK in Six Month of This Year

During August, Kosovo's Special Prosecutor has accepted criminal speculation from the Police Inspectorate against 22 local police officials, for the case known as “Gylenists”. According to him, during the first six months, 637 complaints by citizens have been recorded about police officials, most of which are being mistreated during the exercise of their official office, and also due to bodily injuries during the arrest.

Hodaj for Kosova Prees says there have been an increase in the number of arrested police officers in the first six months of this year, which mainly are for misuse of official office, thus citing police arrest in the case of smuggling in northern Mitrovica.

“over these six months around 65 cases have been registered with criminal numbers, for which investigations are under way, with competent prosecutors and depending on the qualifications of the case and responsibility, and prosecutors operating in Kosovo. As a result of these investigations, 27 police officials have been arrested, only during the first six months, even three citizens who have been in co-operation with police officials. Forty police officials have been suspended, and six police officials have been transferred from their jobs because the transfer has been seen necessary. Two Kosovo Police civil servants have also been suspended, he says.

Otherwise, during 2018, 1419 complaints and information have been accepted, 12 people have been arrested, 50 suspended, and 10 have already been transferred.
