Sleeping during the day is a pleasure that many find difficult to give up.
However, according to a new study, an excessive need to sleep during the day can be an early symptom of Alzheimer's disease. Scientists compared the brain of 13 people who had been sick and died of it with the brain of seven others intact by Alzheimer's.
Researchers focused mainly on parts of the brain that play a role in keeping us awake during the day.
They said they had discovered the degeneration of the entire chain that helps us resist sleep in Alzheimer's patients. Thus, scientists concluded that there is a more direct biological link between the disease and the need to sleep during the day.
