Despite the assessment that in the hands of citizens there are over 100 thousand illegal weapons, the outgoing deputy minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Izmi Zeka, says Kosovo stands much better than the countries of the region in this respect.
Through the phone, Zeka said they were satisfied with the number of weapons legalization applications.
Among the reasons Kosovars are reluctant to hand over their weapons, according to Zeka, is the political situation and relations with Serbia.
The campaign for legalisation of small and light arms began in late 2018, until legalisation application had to be completed in June, but that the deadline has been extended until the end of August. Then, according to Zeka, they will continue with a new phase, their voluntary surrender.
