Minister Hoxha calls on MPs to vote IPA funds

European Integration Minister Gifts Hoxha has called on all Kosovo Assembly deputies before the vote on the distribution of the current legislature to vote on the IPA international agreement to bring about 90m euros from the EU. In the opposite case, the first integration says this [...]
In the opposite case, the first integration case says this will bring great losses to Kosovo, not only to these IPA projects. For that very reason, she has urged MPs to be cautious, since the whole burden is on their shoulders.
The “is more than important for IPA 2018 to be ratified on August 22nd. We may be a little bit knowing the past tradition when all parliamentary groups are together and voted. Perhaps I will call for the same practice to apply on August 22nd to ratify this agreement”, says Minister Hoxha.
Minister Hoxha listed all projects that will be covered with these funds, where one of them and the most important, according to her, is changing filters at the KEK thermal power plant.
The importance of these funds is really beyond words. I'm only mentioning one of the projects that are or will be covered with these funds, which is changing filters at the KEK thermal power plant. It's really important, because air quality will significantly improve... They are among the projects I can mention that are very important. Here we have the ombudsman issue, support of the energy efficiency fund that is a fund that then significantly with other projects will support Kosovo citizens to improve their homes or businesses, then improve the technology and IT sector. This is very important, as it shows that we are part of the EU's digital agenda. If we fail to use these funds through the IPA, then more funds will be jeopardised”, Minister Hoxha tells the KP.
Minister Hoxha voiced optimism that the IPA international agreement will be voted in the Assembly, but despite that, she says the period of time until there is a possibility for ratification is the last day of 2019.
“Our goal, or deadline, when this bill must be adopted is December 31st, 2019. However, knowing that we are on the verge of extraordinary elections is most important that we all find consensus. We've boasted now and how many years that European integration is one thing we always agree on... if we fail to ratify, I'm very optimistic that we will have a ratification at the August 22nd session, because, ultimately, it will be the MPs who will not vote for ratification and allow them to lose 90 million euros”, she claims.
Votes of this international agreement, bringing Kosovo 90m euros in grants from the EU, have called for political parties and civil society. At the beginning of this week, the Parliament's Headship decided that this point would be put on the agenda on August 22nd, the day the current legislature is expected to be distributed.
