Currently, Kosovo has no statistics on women's mortality from this disease, so even the number of cases that end in death is not correctly known.
Ilir Kurtishi, director of Oncological Institutes At the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo, Free Europe told Radio that supplies with cytostatics, or medicines dealing with cancer, are good, but that there is a lack of certain types of drugs.
In the first six months, the number of cancer cases has been 185 females, representing three (3) growth compared to last year. As for the drug supply, we're mostly good at supplying, but that's two drugs from missing essentials. The problem with the supply of these drugs comes from the supplier, which has not brought them”, Kurtishi said.
Contrary to a drug called “Pertuzumap”, which is currently required as necessary by more than 30 women patients for treating breast cancer, is not at all on the essential list.
Kurtishi says that they have already applied to the Ministry of Health for this type of medicine to be placed on the essential list.
It's the drug that's not on the essential list, but that we've requested to become part of it. There are up to 30 requests of women a year who need this medicine. Each one needs up to six therapies from this drug to use and this state would cost around 500 thousand euros”, Kurtish said.
Immunosis as an alternative to more efficient cancer recovery
At the Ministry of Health, Albattri Matoshi, media adviser to the minister's resignation in health, said the drug “Pertuzumap” will be placed on the essential list, since the old list has already been completed and there are many changes, depending on clinic requirements.
“Resubsisting the list of essential drugs is complete. It is in public hearing, and within these days it will be signed. As for this shepherd, he is part of the new list Essential drugs. In addition to this grass, a large number of other drugs have been added, including younger cancer treatments and other diseases. In general, this new list of essential drugs will be the most complete list the Ministry of Health has ever had. This list is expected to meet citizens' needs and demands regarding their health concerns”, Matosi said.
Unlike last year (2018) they were marked 1,500 new cancer cases. According to Ilir Kurtish, they have dominated breast cancer cases in females, while lung cancer and colon cancer in males.
University Clinical Centre leaders in Pristina say that currently for cancer-affected patients, 24-hour service is provided.
