The re-elected chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, has declared that the prime minister in resignation, Ramush Haradinaj, even though he resigned to go to The Hague as a private person, he again went there to the prime minister's position.
According to Isa Mustafa, Haradinaj only argued his resignation with The Hague case.
“Mr. Haradinaj initially reasoned that he does not want to go to The Hague as prime minister, but wants to go to The Hague as a private person”, Mustafa said, adding that “actually did not happen because in The Hague he went as outgoing prime minister, or the prime minister in the resignation is still the same position with little difference as to the act of resignation”.
But Mustafa added, however, that it is his issue and that he will not exploit his resignation for political reasons.
“We have estimated that it is his issue and his assessments, but we have not given, say, another political character”, Mustafa said.
And according to him, the biggest problem still remains the fact that by constitution it is not well defined what happens if a prime minister leaves his post.
There have been other assessments, in fact, that the country is now in a very bad situation because it has not been well defined by the constitution what happens after I give the prime minister an irreversible resignation, whether it is more prime minister or not”, Mustafa said.
And for that, the LDK leader said that after the elections they would fulfil the constitution in order to fill that gap.
“in this case I consider that salvation is to get to the elections as soon as possible, and later of course we will see the constitution fulfilled in this part so that we do not have constitutional vacuum”, he told the Voice of America.
All this, according to him, will be done for those who declare themselves the <x0 prime minister but continue to exercise this task”.
Isa Mustafa was re-elected for the third time at the party's helm on August 3rd. He managed to defeat Fatmir Sejdiu, while also declaring he will not be a candidate for prime minister, which gives way to other members for the post.
