The meeting for a glass of beer is essential for men to keep their company, while women still meet more frequently with their friends, says one scientist.
Robin Dunbar, a evolution biologist at Oxford University, says he analyzed the behavior of a group of 30 people in transitional stages from childhood to adulthood, monitoring their social relationships.
What made the company of women survive was that they called each other very often on the phone. To keep society alive, communication was essential.
But the same is not true of men. What kept their company, was what they were doing together, like soccer matches or going out to a drinking pub.
