An unprecedented iPhone hacker operation that targeted thousands of users a week, until it was discovered in January, has been published by researchers on the Google foreign security team.
The operation, which has lasted 30 months, used a small group of hackerd websites to disperse viruses on visitors' iPhones. Users, compromised simply by visiting sites: no interaction was needed, and some of the methods used by hackers even touched updete-to-date phones.
Once hackerd, the deepest secrets of users were exposed. User location was canceled every minute, as did password, chats on whatsapp, telegram and message, lists of registered phone numbers, as well as their Gmail database.
Only when the phone was restored was it no longer hackered but only if a compromised site was not visited again.
Google says it reported the Apple problem on February 1st and Apple later published an upgrade of the operating system on February 7th.
