Albania's 35-year-old man, one of two perpetrators of a bank robbery in Parga, caught after 7 years.
The fugitive from Patra's prison was one of two perpetrators of armed robbery at a bank branch three days ago in Parga. He is a 35-year-old Albanian who was arrested late Wednesday night on a main road in Presveza and was later identified, according to police, as one of the two robbers.
His arrest was made possible by surveillance of a police officer O PEC Preveza, who was out of service but had captured images from the Bank's closed circuit.
As part of a police investigation into the house where the suspect was seen, he found part of the money robbed by the bank, a gun and a false identity of Italian authorities. Concretically, out of 26.630 euros and $200 seized by two bank robbers were found in the 35-year-old house, 8,240 euros and $100.
The investigation suggests there is one person who has been on the run from Patras prison since January 25th 2012.
His escape had occurred after taking a 6 - day break and never returned to prison. The suspect was serving a 12-year prison sentence for theft, armed robbery, theft, drug possession and illegal entry into the country.
Currently, 35-year-old Albanian will face a sentence of up to 19 years for criminal robbery, illegal weapons and other acts. The preliminary investigation into the case and investigations into his associate's whereabouts are under way by the Preveza Security Department.
