Speaking outside a polling station after casting the vote in Kiev on Sunday, Mr. Zelensky told the BBC that early parliamentary elections were “perhaps more important than presidential elections”.

Wars between government forces and separatists east of Ukraine have begun since 2014, and have claimed over 13,000 lives.
Zelensky, 41-year-old former Romanian, mostly known for his role as president in a television show, has won presidential elections held on 21 April, with more than 73 per cent of the votes won.
