At a meeting in Belgrade with NATO's Supreme Allied Force Commander in Europe, Todd Walters, Voullin said that “the biggest security threat in the Balkans is the formation of the Kosovo Army” and “efforts to form Albania big,”, said in the communiqué of the Serbian Defence Ministry, which broadcast Radio Free Europe's Balkan Service.
For Serbia, KFOR [Peacekeeping Commission] NATO is the only legal armed formation in Kosovo, and the Serb population views it as the sole guarantor of security. Therefore, it is very disturbing for Serbia when KFOR's capacity or role is reduced”, Voullin said.
Walters praised, reportedly in the communiqué, the contribution of Serbia's Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces to multinational operations, under the mandate of the European Union and the United Nations.
Meanwhile, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, during his meeting with NATO's Supreme Allied Force Commander in Europe, Todd Wolters, has said that KFOR is the guarantor of the security of the Serbian people in Kosovo, adding that good communication between the army of Serbia and KFOR is important for, as he said, “prevents any crisis situation in Kosovo and Metohi”.
The Kosovo Assembly, in December last year, has adopted laws, with which transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into the Kosovo Army is possible.
