Young Journalists Club, state agency “IRNA” and agency “Mehr” are among the agencies blocked on Twitter on Saturday. However, some agencies, including the “Fars” and English-language television “Press TV”, have not been blocked on this network.
The agencies blocked by Twitter have said that social network action has been taken due to their reporting about tensions in the Middle East. In particular, they believe they have been blocked due to reporting concerning the seizure of the British ship by Iran's forces.
A Twitter source has confirmed that these agencies have been blocked due to attacks on Baha's minority community.
Members of this community have said that hundreds of believers in the group have been killed since the eighth year, while many others have been imprisoned and tortured.
An estimated 300 thousand members of that belief are believed to live in Iran, although Iran does not officially recognise this community. The group “Human Rights Watch” has said that members of this community are persecuted and imprisoned by authorities, writes “BBC”
