The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, beginning this week will start consultations with political parties for taking further steps leading to overcoming the situation created by the prime minister's resignation.
The presidency has announced that following the resignation of the prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, it will take all necessary actions in accordance with the competencies defined in the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.
The constitutional mandate of the president of the Republic of Kosovo is indisposed to ensure respect for the principle of division of powers and to preserve the security of legal and constitutional order in our country. Moreover, based on constitutional competencies, the president of the Republic of Kosovo represents the unity of the people and is guarantor of the democratic functioning of state institutions. Therefore, any steps the president takes will be in line only with the interests of citizens and state interests. The president of the Republic of Kosovo assures all citizens that any action of his will be in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and beginning next week will begin consultations with political/coalization parties for taking further steps leading to overcoming the situation created by the resignation of Prime Minister”, the report said.
