Adults are preferred to take 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night, according to the National Sleep Foundation.
But this becomes almost impossible when they become parents, which is because newborns keep their mothers and fathers awake all night long, poor sleep can be very exhausting both emotionally and physically. So it is best to know at least some of the difficulties at first, to be able to go through this magical journey with full ease.
Clearly, all new parents are aware that they will have to forget the sweetness of sleeping at night when the child arrives. But sometimes they believe it won't last long and that they will get more sleep when their child grows up. But what if we say you're going to have less sleep for about six years after the baby's birth?
Researchers collected sleep data for 4,659 parents from 2008 to 2015, mothers and fathers praised their pleasure of sleep on a scale of 0 to 10, and reported the duration of their sleep.
The results show that during the first 3 months of birth, mothers sleep on average an hour less than before. Perhaps, of course, fathers tend to sleep more than their wives, but they also lose about 15 minutes off at night. Six years after birth, mothers sleep 20 minutes less, and fathers still don't take their 15 minutes back. Both parents also confirm a decrease in their sleep quality.
Dr. Sacari Lemola, author of the study, stressed that they do not expect to discover that sleep returns even six years after birth.
A curious observation has been made during the course of research, parents do not lose more sleep if they decide to have more children. The sleep of mothers who gave birth to their second child is restored to pre-resurresponding levels because its quality and duration are already worse because of the influence of their first child.
