Authorities launched an investigation into Olcay in 2016 after receiving a complaint that the singer changed the lyrics and that she used gestures to insult Erdogan at a concert in Istanbul.
In modified lyrics it expressed “Recep Tayip Erdogan, it is empty, it is a lie. Life will be over one day and you'll say I had a dream. ”

In her testimony, serial actor “Nus from Istanbul” said she changed the text because the president's name was adapted to the rhyme.
Prosecutors demanded a four-year sentence on Olcay. But a court in Istanbul sentenced him last year for 11 months and 20 days in prison, but suspended him.
Erdogan's lawyers appealed the verdict, demanding that the decision to sentence the actress be put into effect.
