A strategy against aging has been tested recently. 14 volunteers, afflicted by lung diseases, underwent treatment aimed at removing toxic cells from the body.
The study is conducted in January and is seen as the first step towards senolicism, or the use of drugs to cleanse the human body of old and toxic cells.
Some researchers view this strategy as also appropriate for healthy people who want to slow down the aging process.
The study was conducted by several Texas clinics and Wake Forest University.
The two drugs used for this test are dasantib, which is used to treat leukemia, and the quartstina, a kind of supplement.
Patients who participated in the study suffered from an advanced form of pulmonary fibrosis. After treatment with 9 doses of the drug, an improvement in patients ' ability to walk and in other ways was seen.
The results have been followed by commercial enthusiasm. A company in California has already started work on a semipolitical drug designed to be used in osteoarthritis sufferers.
Treatment targets old cells that have lost the ability to reproduce through cell division but remain toxic.
Researchers say that alienation of these cells from the organism contributes to healthy aging and its prevention of diseases.
Other tests are being conducted in major clinics such as “Mayo”, with patients suffering from serious illness. However, researchers hope to use the Senolitic agents for healthy people to slow down the aging process. (TemA TV)
