Kosovo President Hashim Thaci warns that he will continue the same role he has had so far in dialogue with Serbia.
In a stance the presidency has expressed today for the Time Ditore, it implies that Thaci does not consider that Kosovo's representation in the final phase in dialogue with Serbia has been contrary to the Constitution.
The president, based on the constitutional function he has, is a powerful representative of the Republic of Kosovo and has the right to carry out all actions related to the initiative and conclude an international agreement”, said the response, sent by the Office for Information of the Presidency for Time.
In contrast, the opposition says the country's president has no representative role in the dialogue.
Albulen Haxhiu from the Vetevendosje Movement in a proposal for Periscope has said President Thaci has only an advisory role.
“We have an act of Constitutional Court, a constitutional institution which is the sole authority for interpreting the Constitution of Kosovo, and in that sense the Court has stressed that the competence for foreign policy has the Government of Kosovo, the president has only an advisory role”, Haxhiu has said.
Haxhiu does not rule out even protests that could be organised by Vetevendosje.
“We like VV if we see that this is going on with violations of the fact that we will have actions, we have rejected protests and demonstrations so that the same are not excluded in any variant”, VVC deputy said, adding that any other Thaci action is violation of the constitution with both legs.
While LDK deputy Driton Selmanaj has said that Thaci has been usurping the dialogue process from the start and that he has been not competent for the job.
The first “when President Thaci in some form removed the dialogue process for us has been completely unconstitutional and not competent for this job. The foreign policy creator and its implementor is the Government of Kosovo, even this issue is confirmed by the Constitutional Court's act that has given the president a consultative role, the adviser for this process”, Selmanaj has said.
According to Selmanaj, the country's president has more ceremonial and formal characters in the process with foreign policy and that there is no constitutional mandate to lead any important process of dialogue with Serbia.
The LDK MP has said the Negotiator team has been a tourist team and that their process has already been halted and that it can only continue after the elections.
And we've opposed the Negotiator team, we've brought it to the Constitutional Court, and it confirmed to us, which means that we've washed up this process of the president and the Negotiator Team, which from the start for us has been a tourist team, these can't take a step, it's an unconstitutional, this is now stopped, we can only continue after elections, and only after a legitimate legal government in the constitutional state of”, Dritton Selmany Perpispinsko said.
