Speaking of apprehending largeweights, the one at KTV's interactive “” has said this was their reception, not just the citizens of Kosovo.
Because, we ourselves expected, it was our expectations, not just the expectations of Kosovo citizens. This is harder, not fulfilling citizens' expectations than not fulfilling your expectations. Because, when you want to put people in jail, you don't put people in jail, you don't judge people, you don't start a court procedure based on speculation, based on sound logic, based on suspicion or on gossip”, she said.
According to her, hard evidence does not grow in trees but comes from citizens.
She says the justice system in Kosovo cannot be changed only by putting people in prison.
Papadopoulos says that sometimes they are accused because many people have been released, which according to her is correct, but she says it is also part of justice.
She says that people cannot be put into prison just because expectations exist, until she adds that these are problems the Kosovo judiciary will face.
However, according to EULEX experience, please stay close to your judiciary. Your judiciary must be independent. If there's no evidence, people don't go to jail. This is very important”, she said.
That far has added that for nine years Kosovo has made progress in rule of law.
There is still much work to be done, though it adds that miracles should not be expected.
It says that rule of law has more to do with the adoption of laws.
Kosovo has more than what laws are needed and so far when we are talking, it has very good laws in line with European standards and rule of law. The rule of law has to do with understanding, it is social change, and in every country social changes require a time of”, she said.
And, speaking of the work of the EULEX mission in Kosovo, she says there are things that could be done better or otherwise, but that, according to her, the balance of their work, which she values as positive.
For me, since I came here, I've said so many times that my expectations management was a field we failed to do. And by saying so, I have to underline that everyone judges EULEX and thinks of it only in terms of judgments, high profile judgments, the work we did as executive judiciary”, she said.
