Katy Perry copied her 2013 song, “Dark Horse” from a Christian rap song.
That's an American Court decision. Katy gave evidence at the week-long trial, through which she denied ever to hear the 2009 song Yofulul Noise, by Flame, before recording her song.
She was even offered to perform the song “Dark Horse” in the courtroom, when lawyers couldn't get her to be heard by jury members because of a defect in the Altoporant system. Despite that, however, the jury ruled against the singer.
Caty Perry's lawyers said the pace of both songs was similar and common, arguing that, for this reason, “Flame” could not claim copyright. But the accuser said that Katy and her team had copied an important part of the song.
“Dark Horse” was introduced in 2013 as part of the fourth “Katy Perrit” album and as one of its greatest hits. It has been sold in more than 13 million copies worldwide, and the video of the song was the first of a female artist to reach a billion hits in “yotube” and “vevo”. In total, the song has been watched more than 2.6 billion times since it was published.
