“Broken Heart syndrome” can hurt a lot more than the heart says new research.
While the extreme stress of missing partner/party has been linked to heart problems in previous research, a new study has found that 1 in 6 people with this syndrome also have cancer.
Even worse, they're less likely to survive cancer.
Looks like there's a strong connection between broken heart syndrome and cancer. Therefore, it is recommended that patients with this syndrome also do cancer tests”, says the author of this study, Dr. Christian Temple.
Broken heart syndrome causes sudden and intense chest pain, as well as breathing problems that can be confused with heart attack.
These symptoms are a reaction to increased stress hormones.
This condition contributes to the growing majority of the heart, which implies that the heart cannot pump blood effectively.
Broken heart syndrome can occur after very emotional events, such as the death of a family member, separation from a partner, etc.
