The president of the extreme right said Thursday before reporters that he is considering the possibility of appointing his son for ambassador only a day after he turned 35, which is the minimum age to become Brazil's ambassador to another state. However, the president's possible decision must also be approved by the assembly.
“He is a friend of Trump's children, speaks English and Spanish, and has great experience in the world”, Bolsonaro told his son. On Friday, he declared that his son's assignment would not present the case of nepotism. The Supreme Court decides that. It's not nepotism, I would never do such a thing”, Bolsonaro said.
In the president's opinion, however, many analysts are disagreeing. “It is confirmed, this appointment will make Brazil banana republic”, said journalist Bernardo Mello Franco, who works for the newspaper “O Globo”.
The president's son, Eduardo, was the most voted MP of the Brazilian assembly and serves as chairman of the parliamentary commission for foreign relations. He has stated that he would accept this offer, if it is officially sent to him, writes the Guardian”.
