This forum has gathered in Washington MPs from around 18 world parliaments, where, along with American congressers, they are discussing advancing democratic principles in the world.
During yesterday, Hoti has been one of the speakers in the panel regarding the involvement of youth in parliamentary life and politics in general.
“The inclusion of youth in politics is key to ensuring that politics addresses their needs. This involvement becomes even more important in countries like Kosovo, where the population is very young and about 1/4 of the population is in education. In most countries, politics has slowly changed in terms of the needs of young people. As a result, many young people decide to migrate and this is costing us as society”, Hoti stressed in his speech.
He added that Kosovo's Assembly has established the Group of Young MPs with deputies from all parliamentary groups, led by MP Rekaliu from the LDK ranks.
Hoti said that despite all the difficulties, this group of MPs have prepared a work plan, which has been discussed with youth and NGOs, is active in meetings with young people, as well as has proposed a resolution urging the executive to deal with certain specific issues to address the needs of young people in education, employment, business, etc.
However, Hoti added, in countries like Kosovo, youth challenges are in fact challenges for the whole society.
