Albania is the country that will have the largest population contraction in the world by the end of the century. The shocking prediction comes from the United Nations organization in the final projection of the world's population.
According to the UN's basic projection, by the end of this century Albania's population will be wrinkled to only 1 million people, with a decline of 62 percent compared to the current figure.
This is the biggest decline in the world, which designs the Albanian nation as a neighbourhood of a common European city. According to the UN, of the 5 states expected to face the largest population decline in the next 80 years, 4 are located in the Balkans.
More specifically in second place, the state that will suffer the largest population reduction is Serbia with 52 percent, while in third and fourth countries Moldova and Bosnia, where the population is expected to shrink by 50 percent by the end of this century. The state that closes the five places with the deepest demographic crisis is Bulgaria, for which the UN predicts will lose 48 per cent of the population by 2100.
These are the projections according to the basic scenario, which has the highest probability of accomplishment. In parallel, the UN has calculated projections even under a negative scenario, which is based on a faster decline in fertility. The results for this option are even more alarming, predicting the wrinkle of Albania's population of only 500,000 at the end of the century. A fatal projection, which practically designs Albania into extinction. /
