The number of road accidents this summer season has seen an increasing trend compared to the first months of this year. During the last week of July alone, 10 accidents were registered, including 3 were recorded in the Korca District on Saturday, with seven injuries.
The six-month period of 2019 has recorded 714 accidents across the country, with 858 injuries and 102 people dead.
Compared to the same period a year ago, this year's six-month period numbers 4 more people dead and 113 less injured.
The month of June this year holds the record number of accidents for the first 6 months of 2019, registering 131 accidents. As a result, 26 people are dead and 161 injured.
The main cause of accidents continues to remain the drivers. For June, about 92% of the accidents have been caused by them. Problem remains the speed limit, the use of alcohol in the direction of the vehicle, the use of the mobile phone, or even the failure to keep the distance on the street.
The rest of the cause of accidents belongs to pedestrians who refuse to abide by road rules, passing by red lights, or in the absence of their overpasses or rejection, cross across the trans-traditional traffic, Tch writes.
The high number of summer season accidents is linked to the large flow of vehicles that enter our country. The return of immigrants and vacationers aggravates traffic and circulation on the country's main roads.
However, street police from the start of the summer season have stepped up measures aimed at reducing traffic and avoiding road accidents. Summer season has always recorded an increase in accidents because most holiday leaders are more unwary, faster and use more alcohol.
