“In the current view of this 10-year-old, establishing diplomatic relations between Kosovo and Bulgaria has travelled as a common journey, where in important processes, Kosovo has received the unhurt support of Bulgaria, and for that we are very grateful. And this assistance was actually not something new or unexpected from the country friend Bulgaria, as Bulgarian authorities at no time and circumstances lacked readiness to support Kosovo, with particular emphasis we remember and appreciate very much Bulgarian assistance during 1999, which together with Romania and Hungary shut down airspace to help NATO and preventing something that could have been very unpredictable for the stability of the region”, Chief Parliamentary Veselin said.
“Today, 20 years from then, we are on guard to celebrate the most marked day of Kosovo's new history, the day of liberation, and I am very happy that I have the opportunity to be here today and to thank with the highest consideration all Bulgarian institutions of all the levels that at that time made their precious contribution so that we can be free and safely travelling towards Euro-Atlantic integration. The people of Kosovo, the free citizens of my country are grateful to”, Veselin said.
The head of the Assembly also stressed the fact that Bulgaria was among the first countries to have recognised Kosovo's independence in 2008.
“over all this road when we talk about the help we have been given on our road to statehood we want to thank Bulgaria. I would like to seize this opportunity to praise and thank the Bulgarian Government, which along the EU presidency shows a genuine co-operation with Kosovo and the entire Western Balkans”, he said.
At the holiday concert organised by the Kosovo Embassy in Bulgaria, Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva, deputy foreign minister and other central and local representatives, as well as representatives of Bulgaria's accredited diplomatic chorus were present.
For me, it's an honor to be with Kosovo friends tonight to celebrate the 10th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Bulgaria and Kosovo have excellent relations and we will work to strengthen economic co-operation as well. Kosovo is a friendly state of ours, and Bulgaria will continue to help Kosovo on its path towards European integration. Since we are at this party I want to congratulate all of Kosovo's people”, said Bulgaria's Chief Parliamentary Tsveta Karayancheva.
At the holiday concert of the 10th anniversary of Kosovo-Bulgarian diplomatic relations, Kosovo guitarist Petrit Ceku, along with Sofia's Harkor Quartet, has performed several works.
