The company has already launched another update for another problem.
According to ZDNet, undercovers used two security problems to target Coinbase employees: the first allowed for activating the harmful code through Firefox, while the second created opportunities to escape the protected Firefox processes.
The attackers used the “per-phosing” method by sending e-mails to the cryptographic scholarship personnel to lure them to a website designed to download and automatically install a mountain that stole information.
This method could only be applied if employees used Firefox. The mountain they used to operate in Mac and Windows and could collect data and passwords.
A Google Zero Project researcher reported the problem at Mozilla in April, but the browser's creator had failed to address it before the Coinbase security team reported attacks on company systems.
It is unknown how hackers had information about their problems and their way of exploiting them. While Connbasse found no cases of attack on consumers, Firefox users must update the browser, especially already that problems are public.
