“I personally believe there should be only one decision: to start negotiations based on European Commission recommendations”, Tusk has said at a joint conference with Northern Macedonia President Stevo Pendarovski in Brussels.
“Both Northern Macedonia and Albania have done “everything that has been expected” to continue the path towards membership, but has added that “not all member states are prepared to make a decision to open negotiations in the coming days”, he said.
Last month, the European Commission has recommended opening talks on both of these states. The issue is expected to be discussed at an EU ministers' meeting next week in Luxembourg.
