US President Donald Trump today downplayed differences with France over Iran, saying that with French counterpart Emmanuel Macro they agreed Tehran should not have nuclear weapons.
At the meeting of two presidents in the French town of Caen, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Allied landing in Normandy, Trump reiterated the US offer to renew negotiations on Iran's nuclear programme, while Macron agreed that new negotiations with Iran should begin, Kosovo Press broadcast.
The US last year abandoned the international nuclear agreement on major powers and Iran, and re-established severe sanctions on Tehran. Trump has recently sent an aircraft carrier and bomber to the Middle East, due to intelligence reports of possible attacks by Iran.
Other Countries Signatories of 2015 International Nuclear Agreement ) France, Germany, Great Britain, Russia and China continue to maintain the deal with Iran and reduce tensions.
